A 202 page book shortlisted for the British Book Design and Production Awards Best Student Book category 2018. This book is an aesthetic journey looking deep into masks through history, culture, fear, protection, theatre and present day. The fact that we humans continue to use masks, still within present day from the early 15th century shows how we still believe in their power to move us. Made of only a few simple features, being so close to the human form their ability is able to transform us into a spiritual being or frighten us making us fear the unknown. This book is for anyone who is interested or intrigued in the power behind the mask and the reasons why they can transform us, for better or for worse.
